Nigo原名長尾智明,畢業於文化服裝學院後,
於1993年11月成立"A Bathing Ape in Lukewater". 他與 Undercover 的高橋盾甚為熟稔, 一同在原宿開設了時裝店 <Nowhere>. Nigo在日文是<第二>的意思,名字的來由,是當時受到Good Enough設計師藤原浩的啟蒙後,得到<藤原第二> 的稱號, 後來人人都簡稱他為 Nigo.

Logo有時會以其他名字出現,分別是"Bape", "A.S.N.K.A", "Ape General","Busy Work Shop", "FootSoldier"
或 "Bapexclusive", 總之千變萬化. |

Bathing Ape 靈感來自1969年電影<Planet of the Apes>. 而 "A.S.N.K.A" 亦是來自電影名句
"Ape Shall Never Kill Ape". Nigo自己是個猿人迷, 更是個猿人物品收藏家.  Nigo經常出現在各大小雜誌, 如<asayan>, <Boon>, 親自穿上BAPE新一季的出品以收宣傳之效.
而Nigo在每期Relax都有自己的專欄 <Nigo's General Seminar>, 教你買東西, 遊New York和玩Figures.

裏原宿文化大都以
Nigo 為首. 而Nigo 亦不時與其他單位互相合作出別注Tee, 搞音樂會 <Bape Worldwide Heads Show>. 與日本裏原宿音樂人Cornelius,即小山田圭吾和
Mo'wax老闆 James Lavelle 十分友好. <Ape Sounds>更是由 Mo'wax 出品, Futura做封面,
參與其中的有 Cornelius, Money Mark 與 Ben Lee.
A Bathing Ape 的 Busy Work Shop 在日本各地都有分店, 大阪, 名古屋, 青森和香港. 亦予定在
2001年打入美國, 在 New York Recon 發售.

| 除了男裝之外, Nigo 亦嘗試制作另一個專為女性而設的品牌,
BAPY (Busy Working Lady 的意思). 2001年一月一日, 在裏原宿附近的專門店正式開幕.
希望此品牌更能迎合一眾女猿人迷的口味. 而 BAPY 的設計師是一位名叫 Kiko 的女孩子. |
